#CANDYCARS, a minimalist toy car photography is an art project by Eva Gieselberg dedicated to the color and automobile enthusiasts.
"On a Sunday in the spring of 2015, a crooked toy car lit up on me. It stood on the kitchen shelf in the sunlight. "Can you stage small cars as well as big ones?" I asked myself. I reached for the camera and immersed myself in my own automotive miniature world." / Eva Gieselberg
The photographs first found their way into the artist & photographer's private Instagram feed. The 'small cars' photographed against the bold color backgrounds unfolded their very own aesthetics. The playful colors resulted in the #CANDYCARS hashtag that eventually became the name of the project thanks to the positive feedback from the IG community. The requests and gallery invitations followed. In autumn 2016 #CANDYCARS made the leap into the art world. Since then, the works have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions, they were presented at numerous art fairs including the important Cologne photo fair PHOTOKINA in September 2018. Eva's works are now available as limited edition series in several brick-and-mortar as well as online galleries for contemporary art.
