TRADITION & MODERNITY
Tradition and modernity are ever-present elements of Frantisek Jungvirts’s artistic journey. His glassworks reflect a deep understanding of the centuries-old Czech glassmaking tradition and his expert knowledge of the craft. At the same time, he continuously explores new technologies and trends to give his creations a modern expression, transforming classic objects into contemporary works of art. His portfolio includes functional objects like design vases for everyday use, as well as imaginative full of fantasy artistic objects.
“I like to move between design and fine art in my work. While glass is an exceptional material full of possibilities, it takes love, humility, and patience to work with it. Transforming ideas into emotions is a privilege but also a responsibility – one must be innovative while still honoring traditional glassmaking technics. I’ve learned to take my time when creating. I research, try, sketch, model, and remodel countless times before I arrive at a result that I am truly happy with. While skill is always necessary, integrity is truly key in the process.” / Frantisek Jungvirt
The "Tradition & Modernity" exhibition by Frantisek Jungvirt was held at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Bern, located in the magnificent neo-renaissance Villa Jenner. Completed in 1895 and surrounded by a spectacular historic garden, Villa Jenner is considered one of the most beautiful villas in Bern from the turn of the century.
For the first time, Frantisek Jungvirt presented his works in such a unique and historical environment in Switzerland. His creations embody his own artistic style, which is juxtaposed against the traditional environment, resulting in a display that preserves the authentic spirit of both.
