There is no denying that the midcentury modern design is on-trend today! with their timeless feel and clean-lined look furniture pieces designed in the 1950s fit perfectly in contemporary homes and interiors. The RM58 chair is no exception. Designed in 1958 by Roman Modzelewski, this stunning chair is an ultimate Eastern European mid-century design icon and one of the earliest examples of polyester-glass laminate furniture. The RM58 Classic Chair was considered revolutionary for its pioneering application of fiberglass but also a fully-closed organic form of the seat that had no counterpart in its time. One of the earliest surviving prototypes was purchased for the permanent design collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. The RM58 chair also caught the attention of Le Corbusier, who wanted to produce it in France however, the chair never went into commercial production until recently.
A modern version of the RM58 classic chair is manufactured exactly like the original — manually at a shipyard using yacht and boat production technologies. It is sealed with a synthetic colored resin that guarantees extended longevity. With its high-gloss finish and exquisitely graceful silhouette, the RM58 Classic Chair is a stunning eye-catcher perfect for any living or office space and while it looks like a sculpture, it is in fact a very comfortable lounge chair. The RM58 is available in three variations - Classic, Soft and Matte and a variety of colors. To receive more information please contact us directly.
