Designed in 1958 by Roman Modzelewski, the RM58 is an ultimate Eastern European mid-century design icon that was considered revolutionary for its pioneering application of fiberglass but also a fully-closed organic form of the seat that had no counterpart in its time, either in Poland or elsewhere. One of the earliest surviving prototypes (in white) was purchased for the permanent design collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. A modern version of the RM58 classic chair is manufactured exactly like the original — manually at a shipyard using yacht and boat production technologies. It is sealed with a synthetic colored resin that guarantees extended longevity. With its high-gloss finish and exquisitely graceful silhouette, the RM58 Classic Chair looks like a modern sculpture that will add a contemporary vibe to any living or office space.
